It’s that time of year again, where we look back on the past chapter of our lives, and begin to dream what the next 12 months will bring us.
2023 was a small year for this blog, because it was a big year for me, and I didn’t have the time and energy to devote to writing as I have in the past. I didn’t write much on here, as I was trying to get my personal life under control.
The biggest piece of that was moving from Orlando, Florida to Nashville, Tennessee! It still doesn’t feel real that I live in Tennessee now, but I’m here, and I’ve loved everything I’ve found.
During Covid, I moved from Salt Lake City to Orlando to be closer to family, as there was a lot of uncertainty going on. Salt Lake was great for The Nerdd, as I was able to go to some great conventions and met some really great people.

In Orlando we didn’t go to any conventions, and for three years we pivoted to having a focus on theme parks, which was also really fun.
- My Day at EPCOT
- The Nerdd’s Guide to Universal Studios Orlando and Islands of Adventure in 1 Day
- Super Nintendo World
- My Time on the Galactic Starcruiser
Now, I’m not entirely sure what our focus will be. I imagine we will pivot back to conventions, as they are some of my favorite events to go to, but I don’t yet have a plan. We are still a few months away from convention season (usually April to October), so I have some time to look around and see what’s nearby, and what we could get involved in, but I don’t want to make any promises. A brief search does include:
- ChattaCon
- Nashville Comicon
- ICCCon
- Music City Multi Con
Either way, this next year is going to include a lot of exploring of not just Nashville, but Tennessee and it’s neighboring states.
I do really intend to write more often again, because it makes me very happy, but I’m never quite sure what will light that creative spark. Lately it’s been a lot of Dungeons & Dragons, and not a lot of superheroes and Star Wars. Sometimes all it takes is a single movie to completely shift my focus.
I used to have a very clear outline of what topics I would write about, but lately that’s done more to limit my desire, rather than focus it, so I’m letting that go, and following my gut more.
I hope 2024 brings some positive surprises my way, because I’m ready for them!
