Getting ready for Doctor Strange, my wife and I rewatched every movie from the MCU, read the summaries for every Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode, remembered the Netflix shows, and found Marvels One Shots. If you haven’t had a chance, let me break it down for you, so you can see all the juiciness of these shorts. If you want to see them yourself, they are all on Vimeo!
Agent Carter

Agent Carter, fresh out of the war, is trying to find her place in the post-war world, a world that still does not take women in the field seriously. There is an action sequence that shows Peggy kicking butt, and ends with her getting a call from Howard Stark, asking her to help him join a new organization, S.H.I.E.L.D.
A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to Thor’s Hammer

Coulson is on his way from babysitting Iron Man to New Mexico to find the fallen hammer from space (Mjolnir), but he stops at a gas station at the same time that it is getting robbed. Coulson kicks some butt in a beautiful action sequence, and carries on without so much as a flinch. Also some laughs that are awesome.
The Consultant

Agents Sitwell and Coulson want to get the Hulk on the Avengers Initiative, but the higher ups are requesting the villain from the movie, Abomination, to join the team instead, due to his previous military experience. Not wanting a homicidal maniac on the team, they ask General Ross, the man in charge of Abomination, in a way that he has to say no. He sends Tony Stark. Four characters in all, and it is a great way to use Tony Stark as “The Consultant” which was the deal at the end of Iron Man 2.
Item 47

After the fall of the Chitauri invasion, a couple of civilians get their hands on some alien tech and start to rob banks with their new found toy. Agent Sitwell is tasked with tracking them down, receiving the tech, and disposing of the civilians with too much knowledge on classified alien weaponry. However, he recruits them for S.H.I.E.L.D., seeing as how they knew how to use the alien weaponry faster than S.H.I.E.L.D. scientists could. However, as far as I’m aware, we never see these characters again, so it seems as though this is just about Sitwell as opposed to the civilians who seem much more interesting in my opinion.
All Hail the King

By far my favorite One Shot. After Iron Man 3 Trevor Slattery, the actor of The Mandarin, is sent to prison. But not just any prison, he is sent to Seagate Prison, the one that Luke Cage went to. While he is there, he talks to Melvin Potter, from the Netflix Marvels Daredevil. Also, jealous of his fame while not actually doing anything, is Justin Hammer, the villain from Iron Man 2. Judging by the timeline, they were there the same time as Luke Cage.
All in all, I think the One Shots are beautiful, like an end credits scene, that’s not as necessary to get you excited for the next film, but more as just fun flavor adding to the grand universe that is the MCU.
