With the release of another Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse trailer, we got a look at a few different iterations of Spider-Man. So we are going to take a look at some of the best and most interesting Spider-Iterations to come from the original Spidey himself. Without further ado, lets get started.
The Amazing Spider-Man
The Original, Peter Parker. Born in Queens, New York; while on a field trip as a 15 year old he was bitten by a radioactive spider that gave him super strength, and heightened reflexes. This led him to become the Spider-Man that we all know and love. The one, the only, Amazing Spider-Man.
Spider-Woman
Not in total relation to Peter Parker, but still a worthy candidate for this list is Jessica Drew’s Spider-Woman. At a young age Jessica Drew moved from England to Transia. To cure her from radiation poisoning her father injected her with a serum made from spider blood and sealed her in a genetic accelerator. She left the accelerator years later, her aging had slowed. Afterwords she was trained by Hydra agents but later quit Hydra and joined S.H.I.E.L.D. to become Spider-Woman.
Spider-Man 2099
Miguel O’Hara was born in Nueva York in the year 2099. Working as a geneticist at a company called Alchemax, he disagreed with their experimentation to give people superpowers. He tried to quit, so his boss, Tyler Stone, drugged Miguel with an addictive drug which affects the user on the genetic level. Alchemax manufactured the drug, so Tyler hoped Miguel would stay to fuel his addiction. To get off the drug Miguel spliced his DNA with Spider DNA which gave him the powers of Spider-Man and thus Spider-Man 2099 was born.
Silk
Cindy Moon, living in Queens, New York at the same time as Peter Parker, was there on the field trip where Peter was bit by the spider. However, after the spider bit Peter it bit Cindy before dying. Cindy’s powers were different than Peter’s manifesting in organic web’s shooting from her wrists. After webbing her parents up in an uncontrollable web flurry, Cindy was taken and trained by Ezekiel Sims who later locked her in a bunker for her protection, but when she emerged from the bunker years later she decided to help Peter in his efforts to fight crime in New York.
Spider-Man Noir
In another dimension, Peter Parker is born in New York during the Great Depression. He is an investigative reporter trailing the criminal, Goblin. Peter Parker was trailing a shipment of stolen antiques when a curious spider statue fell to the ground unleashing a swarm of spiders on all present. One spider bit Peter giving him spider powers causing him to don a black WWII inspired espionage Spider-Suit. Great design.
Spider-Gwen
Once again, in another universe, Gwen Stacy is born in Forrest Hills, New York. Much like the original Peter Parker, she received her powers from a radioactive spider. After being given web shooters and a costume from Janet Van Dyne (The original Wasp), she started to fight crime on the streets of New York. She’s become somewhat of a cult favorite iteration of Spider-Man due to a great costume design and a new spin on an a favorite character.
The Scarlet Spider
Another Fan Favorite, The Scarlet Spider was created during the Clone Saga comic book run. After a very lengthy run, it ends with Peter Parker having a perfect clone who, after realizing he is clone of Parker, leaves New York and goes to San Francisco. There he renames himself as Ben Reilly and starts to do the Spider-Routine on the west coast.
Spider-Girl
May Parker is the daughter of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson in a future alternate universe. At the age of 15 she began to develop the powers of her father. Later donning Ben Reilly’s old costume, she strove to fight crime just as her father did before her.
The Superior Spider-Man
After Peter Parker’s death in the comic Dying Wish, Otto Octavius (Doc Ock) implants his consciousness and mind into Peter’s body to prove that he could do a better job as a more “superior” Spider-Man. However with this, he got a better look into Peter’s life and his memories realizing truly that “with great power” does come “great responsibility”. After defeating the Sinister Six he finds that Peter’s subconscious does still exist and voluntarily gives Peter his mind back and sacrifices himself. A short lived Spidey, but a fan fave nonetheless.
The Ultimate Spider-Man
Miles Morales, (the main character of Into the Spider-Verse), went to visit his uncle Aaron Davis (Donald Glover in Homecoming) in Brooklyn. While in his uncle’s apartment he was bitten by a radioactive spider that emerged from Aaron’s bag (which had goods stolen from Oscorp). After Miles left Aaron’s house he found his spider powers activating and became the second Spider-Man.
