Day 5: Final Day of the Con – Back to the Sands

The final day of the convention was spent at back at the Sands Expo Center. The final day was cut a little short and we still had a lot to see. Most of the stuff we saw that day was geared towards fitness and smart home technology. We saw a lot of headphones for the active lifestyle and I was gifted a pair of Aftershokz Bone Conduction headphones. Bone conduction is the conduction of sound to the inner ear through the bones of the skull. They are awesome because you can still hear any outside noises so you can have a normal conversation without taking them off. Super useful if you’re active or have a workout buddy that you want to talk to but are tired of always taking off your headphones. I have used mine a lot and absolutely love them!

We continued on and found a company that made ice cream cones out of honeycomb, a hairbrush that tracks how often you brush your hair and how healthy it is. Throughout the convention I kept seeing massage chairs as a really hot item with lines that sometimes wrapped around the whole booth. I decided to try one out in a line that wasn’t very long, though as soon as I got in line it got really popular really quick. I don’t know what kind of person can throw six grand at a chair but I am jealous of anyone who can. The chair I sat in was made by Inada. There were a bunch of different settings but it did an amazing job at getting pretty deep into my back. I never really thought I was super knotty but that chair sure proved me wrong and it worked out a good amount of them. I fell asleep for about a half hour but it was the most relaxed half hour of the trip.

We finished the day with technology for smart homes and 3D printers. Smart home technology, I could see, is just getting bigger and bigger while at the same time getting more and more affordable. From security cameras to motion sensors. You can even program your house to start a load of laundry for you, heck with the help of a machine called the LaunDroid your house will even fold and sort your laundry!

What a crazy week. I had a blast at CES but I recognize that I was definitely not prepared for the show. Not only did I have a hard time physically, but mentally I struggled to take everything in. I didn’t take nearly enough pictures nor did I have the capacity to remember to take them! Despite this, I still had an amazing time.
