Welcome 2023!

There are a lot of cool movies and shows to look forward to this year! Between Comic Book movies, other Nerddy movies, returning shows, and new shows.

Comic Book Movies

• Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania – Kang was introduced in Loki, and he’s the new Thanos, so make sure you go watch that first, before Ant-Man 3 comes out.
• Shazam! Fury of the Gods – Black Adam was supposed to be the villain of Shazam, but then Dwayne Johnson refused to have a cameo in Shazam 2, so who knows what’s going on anymore.
• Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 – The first one was one of my favorite MCU movies, the second was one of my least favorite. Let’s see what happens.
• Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse – The sequel to the best Spider-Man movie ever made. This is in my top 3 anticipated movies of the year.
• The Flash – How in the world did they cancel Batwoman, but they are still letting this movie happen?
• The Marvels – I need to go watch Ms. Marvel before I can comment on this. It’s been tough caring about the barrage of MCU the past two years.
• Blue Beetle – My understanding is that this is a Peter Parker character with an Iron Man suit. Of course the MCU Spider-Man has an Iron Man suit, so I’m not sure what I’m looking at here.
• Kraven the Hunter – A new Spider-Man villain played by the wonderful Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The Other Quiksilver who was in Kick-Ass.
• Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom – James Gunn has made it clear he intends to wipe away everything Snyderverse, so I’m assuming we actually aren’t going to see this movie, but I’ve been wrong before.

Nerddy Movies

• Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves – A real D&D movie with a big budget and big actors! I’m so ready for this.
• The Super Mario Bros. Movie – I like the animation style a lot, but let’s see if Chris Pratt can bring his Lego Movie level of voice acting to this, because otherwise why didn’t we just get Charles Martinet?
• Evil Dead Rise – If you like the Bruce Campbell/Sam Raimi Evil Dead movies, then here’s another one for you.
• The Little Mermaid – Another Live Action remake, for the people who like those.
• Transformers: Rise of the Beasts – It seems between this and Bumblebee, we are in a time when the Transformers movies don’t need to be in a continuous franchise, but just a bunch of movies about robot cars.
• Elemental – The next Pixar, about Sharkboy and Lavagirl Ember Lumen and Wade Ripple.
• Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny – Indiana 5, without Shia LaBeouf.
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem
• Haunted Mansion
• Dune: Part Two – My favorite movie of 2021, we finally get to see how it ends! I hope it’s just as good.
• The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes – The Prequel, set during the 10th Hunger Games.
• Wish – Something something Disney
• Wonka – The gritty prequel, starring Timothée Chalamet
• Gremlins 3
• Untitled Ghostbuster Afterlife Sequel
